a) Pre-Arrival

Apply for Electronic Visa Approval Letter (eVAL)

• How to apply: Submit your application online here 🔗 https://visa.educationmalaysia.gov.my/

• Processing time: Normally 3–8 weeks. Apply early to avoid delays.

• Documents required: Passport data page, UTM offer letter, academic records, health declaration, passport photo, and proof of English competency (if required).

The VAL is the official approval from the Immigration Department of Malaysia permitting you to study in Malaysia. You must have a valid VAL before entering the country.

Apply for Single Entry Visa (SEV)

• How to apply: Submit your application online here 🔗 https://malaysiavisa.imi.gov.my/evisa

• Processing time: Normally 2 days. Max 7 days.

• Documents required: Passport data page & passport photo.

• Additional notes: Kindly note that some nationalities will be required to obtain a Visa on Arrival (VOA) upon landing in Malaysia.

If you fail to get your SEV issued, you will be denied entry to Malaysia.

Book your flight

DO NOT book your flight before getting eVAL and SEV approval. You will be denied entry

Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC)

After obtaining the eVAL, students are required to complete the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) as early as 3 days (including submission day) before arrival. 🔗 https://imigresen-online.imi.gov.my/mdac/main

EMGS Mobile App

Please download the EMGS Mobile App and fill up the Pre-Arrival Form 3 days before arrival to Malaysia to avoid any delays during your arrival.

Notify UTM

Please notify UTM International as they may need to make necessary arrangements to welcome you upon your arrival.

Documents Checklist

• Other required documents (LOE/NOC/NOL)

• Proof of required payments/fees

• Insurance certificate/policy page (valid & active)

b) Arrival at KLIA

Upon Arrival at Kuala Lumpur International Airport

• At the airport, please inform the immigration officers that you’re an international student and present your MDAC registration. They will ensure your passport is stamped with a Special Pass.

• Please make sure the Special Pass is stamped on your passport before leaving the Immigration Counters.

  

Important: Make sure you don’t get a social visit stamp – this will make you ineligible for a Student Pass Endorsement.

EMGS International Student Arrival Centre (ISAC)

Terminal KLIA-1

• Location: Arrival Hall in the main terminal building at Level 3, before the immigration clearance counters

Terminal KLIA-2

• Location: Level 3A after the exit from the Skybridge

• Note: International students who arrive in Malaysia on Level 2 will be required to take the Passenger lifts to Level 3A

c) Post-Arrival

Reaching UTM from KLIA-1

Flight Option

1. Malaysia Airlines - Level 5 - Domestic Flight

2. Reach at Senai International Airport Johor Bahru

3. Grab/Air Asia Ride/Ride Hailing - 15min (14 KM)

Bus Option

1. At Level 1 - Taxi & Bus Ticketing Counter, buy a ticket

   • Or purchase online at easybook.com OR via the RedBus mobile app. (Prices are approx. RM60-70)

   • Dropoff at Bus Station Skudai (Shell)

2. From Bus Station Skudai to UTM by Grab (3.1 KM)

Train Option

1. Level 1 - KLIA 1 to KL Sentral

   • Adult RM 55

2. KL Sentral to Johor Bahru Sentral

   • Adult RM 70

3. Johor Bahru Sentral by Grab (22 KM)

Reaching UTM from KLIA-2

Flight Option

1. Air Asia - Change to Domestic Flight - Level 2

2. Reach at Senai International Airport Johor Bahru

3. Grab/Air Asia Ride/Ride Hailing - 15min (14 KM)

Bus Option

1. At Level 1 - Taxi & Bus Ticketing Counter, buy a ticket

4. Upon Arrival at UTM

Within seven (7) days of arriving in Malaysia, you must complete the following post-arrival procedures for Student Pass endorsement.

Visit UTM International, Block S19 - Level 1

• Present all original documents to UTM International Block S19 for verification.

• You will also receive guidance on the post-arrival process and a checklist to ensure all requirements are met.

Visit UTM Health Center (Pusat Kesihatan UTM)

Complete your mandatory medical and health screening at the UTM Clinic.

Keep a copy of your health declaration and book your medical screening immediately after arrival to avoid delays in Student Pass endorsement afterwards.

Student Recruitment & Admission Section (SRAD), Block F54/SPS - Level 2

Students must bring and present the original documents. (Passport, original academic certificates and transcripts)

Matric Card, Block F54/SPS - Level 1

Collect your student matric card at the Admission Unit.

Return to UTM International, Block S19 - Level 2

• Return to UTM International and submit your passport for the final visa endorsement process.

• Your passport will be forwarded to the Immigration Department of Malaysia for verification and for your Student Pass sticker to be endorsed in your passport.

• Processing time: At least 22 working days after complete submission. You will get a notification via email to collect it.

⚠️ Important: Students must remain in Malaysia during this period. Travelling abroad before endorsement will cancel your VAL/SEV.

International Student Orientation Program (ISOP)

Students are required to attend the International Student Orientation Program (ISOP) conducted by UTM International.
