Information regarding student accommodation (Kolej)
Student accommodation/dorms are known as "kolej" or "college" in larger universities like UTM.
They're meant to be individual communities inside the bigger university, with their own housing, events, sometimes even small facilities, all running separately from each other with distinct identities.

New International Students
What is the boarding room application process for international students?
— International students need to apply via email to the requested residential college. You may also email asrama@utm.my However, the approval of residential college applications for international students is subject to vacancies at residential colleges.
Are international students required to live in residential colleges?
— International students are not required to stay at residential colleges. It is not mandatory
Are there any other accommodation alternatives if the application at the residential college is not vacant?
— Students can apply for KLG Campus Residence or Scholar's Inn as an alternative accommodation if the application is not approved.
Senior International Students
Room Rental During the Semester Break — Students who wish to rent a room during the semester break can submit an application through the Google Form provided by their respective residential college. Daily rental fees will be directly charged to the student’s account. For any inquiries, please contact the residential college management.
Reserving Room For The Upcoming Semester 2 a) If you already have a room — Your room is automatically reserved for the 2nd semester by default. You only need to apply for a room yearly, i.e. Sem 1 of the academic year. b) If you do not have a room — If however, you do not have a room already, you may apply for one by filling up the form that is in the notice listed under "Notice & Announcement" section here at this website.
Storage Facilities During the Semester Break a) Storage facilities are free of charge, but students are encouraged bring personal belongings home. b) Storage facilities are only available for students who will continue residing in college . No storage is available for students not staying in UTM residential colleges, including those graduating or undergoing industrial training. c) The college will not be responsible for any loss or damage to stored belongings. Items left outside the storage facility are at the student’s risk, and a RM25.00 per box penalty will be imposed.
